Milimani is one of the three clubs in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. It was chartered on the 5th May 2003 by the then Soroptimist International of Europe (SIE) President Hanne Jensbo as the charter officer. The Charter President was Alice Owuor and the current President (2020-2022) is Rose Owuor.
Milimani Club continues to undertake various projects in the Soroptimist programme areas, with the following two programmes being our key focus during the 2020-2022 biennium;
Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Programme in Kajiado. Milimani Club is committed to sensitizing the Kajiado Community against FGM with the aim of influencing them to stop this retrogressive practice. With support from SI Oldenburg, it is our hope that we shall achieve our objectives in Kajiado.
Education Programme for Girls. Supporting the education of girls is important to us in making a positive difference in their lives, and a number of girls have benefited from Soroptimist scholarships. Currently 5 girls are being sponsored by Norwegian Education Foundation and 1 girl by SI Club of Witten Ruhr.
