Soroptimist International

We are a global volunteer movement working together to transform the lives of women and girls.

Through our network of around 72,000 club members in 121 countries, we work at a local, national and international level to Educate, Empower & Enable opportunities for women and girls.

SI consists of 5 federations each corresponding to a geographical region:

  • SI of the Americas (SIA),

  • SI Europe (SIE),

  • SI Great Britain & Ireland (SIGBI),

  • South West Pacific (SISWP),

  • SI African Federation (SIAF).

the Meaning

Soroptimist

The name Soroptimist was coined from the Latin soror meaning sister, and optima meaning best. Therefore, Soroptimist is perhaps best interpreted as ‘the best for women’.

Our Vision

Women and girls will achieve their individual and collective potential, realise aspirations and have an equal voice in creating strong, peaceful communities worldwide.
